| Another "Bier Garten" in Jenbach,
Austria..mmmmmm, lot better than back in the
States...actually Beer is cheaper than wine most places.
Here we had excellent "Jagersnitzel". The restaurant was
neat inside, and had LGB models of the Zillertall-Bahn
up on shelves. The weather was humid and hot.

 |
| views from the train between Austria and
Switzerland, I think! | |
 |
| Lots of locos were advertising, this was for the
"CO-OP" food stores/markets. Vegetables are expensive,
as most food. This is another part of the vast RHB
narrow gauge mainline. | |
 |
| Ken and me with Daniel, our fun host who is a
Swiss Rail employee. We are above the Aarau RR yard
after having a special tour of the area dispatch/control
operations. | |
 |
| A crooked little man on a crooked little street
in Lugano, just before our wild busride to Tirano Italy
(see the video)I think I was just about to trip and fall
here. | |
 |
| The one and only "Orient Express" with me
pretending to be a customer in Innsbruck, Austria. It
had 17 wagons, my video shows it leaving with the
Olympic Ski jump in the distance.
| |
 |
| Ken caught this as I tried to get videos and
slides of the Susch station in the Engadine valley.(I
have a large scale Pola model of this station. Again,I
was really surprised what a faithful reproduction model
mine is.) This was a real long day-we boarded at Scuol
AFTER a bus ride from Austria. We rode to Bever (yes it
looks like Beyer on buildings!) over to Filisur,
Davos,Landquart(RHB hdqtrs)and eventually back thru
Zurich. | |
 |
| This is the Engineer's seat in the high speed
ICE-3 trains (German)First class passengers can sit
right behind the cockpit, but the glass between is LCD,
and can be made opague | |
 |
| Slick,office like interior of 1st class ICE-3,
even some cubes and leather seats to make execs feel at
home. We were on our way to Nurnburg from Zurich.
| |
 |
| After getting to Nurnburg,
we took a lightrail to the burbs then walked, and found
LGB's hqtrs!...it was closed due to a Monday
holiday..and it was the only day we could stop there. I
am climbing on their "trademark" loco, the Stainz. The
gate was open to this lot. The whole set of bldgs look
like the boxes the trains come in, red, with green
stripes. | |
 |
| LGB maintains a working automatic layout outside
the lobby entrance. It shuts off at 5pm.
| |
 |
| Big NAZI electric loco at Nurnberg RR musuem. The
place was fascinating. Lots of video and slides taken
here. | |
 |
| Me in a WW2 period trolley station at Nurnburg
musuem. | |
 |
| Someone was VERY glad to see me when I arrived at
the Santa Barbara airport. Friends Joe and Barbara took
care of her like she was their own. Another friend,
Bonnie surprised me and brought her out to the airport.
| |
 |
| Another departing SBarb platform picture..
Friends George (a railfan-mechanic who rebuilt the
engine in my Skyliner),Don, Greg and Bonnie. All Aboard!
Don got stuck holding the bag...(empty champagne bottle)
